Inspired by these principles, Kreitoe Furniture created this Bauhaus-inspired seating collection specifically for Catur Wijaya Batik, combining classic modernist forms with carefully selected upholstery.

This furniture collection was developed as part of a collaboration with Catur Wijaya Batik, creating a seating environment that complements the character of a batik-focused space.
The interior combines warm wood tones, traditional textile elements, and contemporary furniture. Rather than competing with the batik collection, the furniture provides a clean architectural contrast that allows the patterns and fabrics to remain visually prominent.
The result is a space where Indonesian craft and European modernist design meet in one interior.
Bauhaus Inspiration in Every Detail
The design takes inspiration from the Bauhaus approach to furniture: reduce unnecessary decoration and allow the structure itself to become part of the aesthetic.
The seating features clean geometric proportions, tubular metal frames, rounded cylindrical armrests, and a minimal silhouette. The polished metal structure creates a strong visual contrast against the warm upholstery, giving the furniture its distinctive modernist character.
Instead of relying on excessive ornamentation, the design focuses on:

Upholstered with Yugos Upholstery
For this project, the seating was upholstered using fabric from Yugos Upholstery.
The upholstery brings warmth and softness to the otherwise structured metal frame. Its rich brown tone works particularly well with the surrounding wooden interior, creating a cohesive relationship between the furniture, architecture, and batik collection.
The choice of upholstery was also important in maintaining the character of the space. While the furniture takes inspiration from European modernism, the warm textile treatment gives it a more contemporary and welcoming Indonesian atmosphere.

One of the most interesting aspects of this project is the contrast between the furniture and the batik collection displayed around it.
